Tania Aidrus, Special Assistant to Prime Minister Imran Khan for Digital Pakistan, has resigned. On social networking site Twitter, Tania Aidrus said she resigned in the public interest.

“I came here with a spirit to serve my country. There was a lot of talk about my Canadian citizenship. I am here when Pakistan needs me,” she said.

In her resignation, Tania Aidrus said that a controversy had arisen over her Canadian citizenship, adding that disputes such as citizenship were an obstacle to the vision of Digital Pakistan. She said that she would continue to work for the vision of Digital Pakistan without any post.

In her resignation letter sent to Prime Minister Imran Khan, Tania Aidrus said, “Your service has been an honor for me since the beginning of this year. I am grateful to you for restoring your trust in me.”

“I came back to Pakistan with the sole purpose of playing my part in building a vision of a digital Pakistan,” she wrote. This is a concept that you always mentioned and I spread it, I am Pakistani and will always be.
