The South African team, which is touring Pakistan after 14 years, has reached Karachi for the Test and T20 series. The South African squad was given a warm welcome on arrival in Karachi and was escorted to the hotel in full security. The visiting team, which is on its first visit to Pakistan since 2007, will be placed in quarantine and will undergo a Corona test.

Players whose Covid test will be negative are allowed to do training at the National Stadium in Karachi from Sunday.

Pakistan and South Africa will play a series of two Tests and three T20 matches. The Test series between the two teams is very important as it is part of the World Test Championship.

The first Test of the series will be played at the National Stadium in Karachi from January 26 to 30, while the second Test of the series will be hosted by Rawalpindi from February 4-8. After that, a series of three T20 matches between the two teams will be played on February 11, 13, and 14 at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. South Africa had earlier visited Pakistan in 2007 and won the Karachi Test by 160 runs to win the series 0-1.

After the terrorist attack on the Sri Lankan team in Lahore in 2009, Pakistan’s grounds fell asleep and the teams decided not to come to Pakistan, during which time Pakistan hosted all its home series on UAE grounds. Pakistan hosted South Africa twice in 2010 and 2013 in the UAE.

A total of 11 Test series have been played between the two teams since 1995, of which South Africa has won seven, while Pakistan has won only one series so far, which was played in 2003.

This will be the first time that a T20 series will be played between the two teams in Pakistan where the previous two series played in the United Arab Emirates were won by the South African team.
