Realme 5s Pro

The Realme X2 Pro is a significant launch from Realme and it has created the buzz in the market- thanks to its high-end flagship features. It is an important launch for Realme but alongside it, the Chinese smartphone maker announced Realme 5s. It is more or less similar to Realme 5 but it has an upgraded primary sensor in the quad-camera setup. The new 48-megapixel primary lens has swapped a 12-megapixel lens which gives a big advantage to Realme 5s. While the rest of the device’s specs are identical to Realme 5, does it make a worthy buy? Coming in sub-Rs. 10,000 segments, is it a great option to consider also get it more pocket-friendly by using available DBS Cards Offers? Let’s check it out in the Realme 5s review below:

Design and display

The Realme 5s looks identical to the Realme 5 and the brand has given it a new paint job – so that you can distinguish between the two. The back panel has a glossy finish and the diamond texture that is usually seen on Realme smartphones. The back panel can catch the fingerprints easily but the diamond pattern makes it hard to spot smudges. You can use the case to protect it from fingerprints and Realme includes it in the box too. On the back, there is Realme’s quad-camera module which sits next to the fingerprint sensor. The buttons on the sides are well-positioned and offer very tactile feedback. On the bottom, you will find a Micro-USB port along with the 3.5mm audio jack and the loudspeaker. A USB-C port would have been a welcoming feature.

Realme 5s comes in three color variants: Crystal Red, Crystal Blue, and Crustal Purple.

Coming to the display, Realme 5s packs a 6.5-inch (16.5cm) LCD multi-Touch display having a 1600-by-720-pixel resolution at 269 PPI. There is a waterdrop notch on the top – Realme calls it “Mini Drop” – and it gives 89% Screen-to-Body Ratio. The bezels are pretty thin around the display and the bottom is relatively thicker. The display is protected by the Corning Gorilla Glass 3+ and there is also Night mode for eye care. Talking about this price segment, it is a great display that will offer you incredible viewing experience. The colors pop out bright and sharp from the panel which makes Netflix-ing and Youtube-ing fun.

Performance

Under the hood, the Realme 5s has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 chipset which is an octa-core processor. The device is available in tow RAM/Storage variants including 4GB RAM/64GB internal storage and 4GB RAM/128GB internal storage. The chipset is based on 11nm process technology. The internal storage can be expanded up to 256GB. The device runs smoothly and leaves no signs of lags and stutters. Yes, the device might get hot when you do heavy tasking for half an hour. Looking at the price point, this is a great performer. Gaming on this device is fun and it can handle games like PUBG Mobile with ease.

The Realme 5s runs ColorOS 6 custom skin on top of Android 9 Pie. The custom skin is the problem here which slows down the software at times and it has been a very common problem in Realme smartphones.

Battery Life

The Realme 5s packs a high-capacity 5,000mAh battery which can give you two days easily – only if you are a casual user. Realme claims that it can offer 12 hours of video playback and talk time up to 48 hours. The device is shipped with a 10W charger in the box. There is no fast charging or wireless charging support on this phone.

Camera

Talking about the cameras, the backside of the phone packs four camera lenses including a 48MP main camera with f/1.8 aperture, an 8MP wide-angle camera with f/2.25 aperture and 119-degree angle, a 2MP portrait camera with six portrait styles, and the last one, 2MP macro lens with 4cm focus distance. On the front, there is a 13MP front camera with an f/2.0 aperture for selfies. Images came out to be sharp and beautiful with well-detailing but sometimes they felt overexposed. In the night, the images were losing details at times and they came out underwhelming. Selfies taken from the front camera were decent and you will love to share them on Instagram or Facebook. A decent package under Rs. 10,000. You can also information about price drop along with news on govt jobs from our web just by subscribing free of cost.

Final Verdict

Realme 5 was one of the few mobile phones packing a macro camera but since Resmi Note 8 stepped in, things have changed drastically. What Realme 5s brings into the market is nothing new? Yes, the performance and cameras have been furnished and they have become better apart from low lighting conditions. But is it enough? I feel no! Realme 5s is not something we wanted right now in the market after seeing what Xiomi Note 8 has already offered that too better at this price.
