Protests intensify in US, curfew imposed in 25 cities in 16 states

A curfew has been imposed in 25 cities in 16 states following violent protests over the death of a black man, George Floyd, by a police officer in the United States.

A video of a black man’s death surfaced on Monday, according to foreign news agencies. In which a policeman had placed his knee on his neck so hard that he eventually died due to shortness of breath.

After that riot starts in the city. Several buildings, including police stations, were set on fire, windows were smashed and stores looted. Protesters set fire on police vans. Police fired rubber bullets and tear gas shells on protesters.

The protests began peacefully, culminating in clashes with police and provocations. This insecurity has now become a national trend in condemnation of police killings over the years.

CNN reports that authorities have called in National Guard in dozens of states, including District Colombia after curfews were imposed in 25 cities in 16 states.

Protesters were seen chanting “I can’t breathe” as George Floyd breathed his last. Dozens of people have been arrested in different states so far in the tense situation.

For the first time since World War II, the Minnesota National Guard has been fully mobilized due to arson, vandalism, and looting in Mania Police for four days.

Governor of Minnesota

The governor of Minnesota said the deployment of guards was necessary because foreign aggressors were using the protests over the death of George Floyd to spread chaos.

In addition, the Pentagon issued an extraordinary statement that troops had been asked to be on “four-hour notice” if the governor of Minnesota requested assistance in maintaining peace.

In Washington, D.C., hundreds of protesters marched outside the Justice Department building, chanting “Black lives are important.” After which several people walked towards the White House where they were confronted by a large number of policemen holding shields.
