PIA announces Rs 1 million each for the burial of deceased’s

National airline PIA has announced Rs 1 million compensation for the heirs of 97 victims of the PIA plane crash. According to PIA spokesman Abdullah Khan, the process of handing over the bodies of the martyrs in the plane is underway and Rs 500,000 is paid to the relatives for burial as per PIA rules.

The spokesperson said that on the special directive of the Prime Minister of Pakistan, It has been decided to pay Rs 10 lakh each while the burial expenses will be paid by the district managers of PIA themselves by visiting the house of the deceased.

A PIA spokesman said all the bodies had been recovered from the scene. It is to be noted that 97 people including the crew of the national airline were killed as a result of the accident that took place yesterday.

‘Government will repair damaged houses’

“We have just seen a lot of houses damaged and a lot of vehicles have been damaged, a preliminary inspection has been ordered and it will be seen that every house is repaired and The government will bear the cost of rehabilitation.

Ghulam Sarwar Khan said that “these houses will be completely restored and handed over to the residents and similarly those whose vehicles are burnt will also be repaired”.

He said that the government has initially released Rs 10 lakh per passenger. The surviving children will be given Rs 5 lakh. “The actual amount of insurance is around Rs 5 million. We will try our best to ensure that the affected families get their due as soon as possible,” he said.
