How to Find Your Inner Motivation

Whether you’re a student or an entrepreneur, there’s no denying that motivation is essential. You need it to accomplish your goals, keep up with your studies, and do just about anything else in life. But how do you find motivation?

The answer isn’t as simple as it sounds. After all, motivation is something that comes from within, it’s not something we can buy or borrow from someone else if they have more than us (however tempting).

Inspirational quotes might help in the short term, but they won’t give you the sustainable inner motivation you need to achieve your long-term goals.

Acknowledge your struggles

When you acknowledge the struggles in your past, present, and future, it allows you to be grateful for what you have now. You can look back on your previous successes with a sense of fulfillment and pride. You can also recognize that even though there are still challenges ahead of you, being aware of them will help guide your course in the right direction.

Focus on the positive

To find your inner motivation, focus on the positive. In other words, look for things that make you happy or bring joy to others and the world around you. You may be able to do this by focusing on what you have achieved rather than what you haven’t.

For example, if you’re a runner who is trying to lose weight, instead of focusing on how much further away from your goal weight is at any given point, focus instead on all of the good things that come along with running: more energy and stronger muscles; improved posture; better moods; better sleep habits (and therefore less snoring, ).

It’s easy to get caught up in negative thinking patterns when we’re striving toward a goal, we tend to think about all of our mistakes or failures along the way, but it’s important not to let those thoughts take over too much space in our minds because they may hold us back from achieving our goals altogether,  Focusing on how far we’ve come can help us keep moving forward

Get rid of distractions

When you’re trying to find your inner motivation, the best thing that you can do is get rid of distractions. This means turning off all electronic devices: phones, computers, and televisions. It also means no social media or favorite websites (like Facebook).

If these things aren’t in the room with you, it’s going to be much easier for you to stay focused on what needs to be done. Even worse than having these things available as distractions is actually using them while trying to find your inner motivation.

Find your purpose

If you’ve ever asked yourself the question, “What is my purpose?” you’re not alone. Finding your purpose in life can be difficult and confusing. But it’s also one of the most rewarding things that anyone can do.

The first step to finding your life purpose is to understand what your purpose actually is, not just what it might be in a dream world where everything goes perfectly. Is your current job fulfilling? Are you able to make an impact on the world with what you do?

If not, then it may be time for a change of scenery,  Try taking some online classes or volunteering for organizations that align with how much passion you have for things like animals or helping children who are less fortunate than others. This will help give insight into which direction would be best suited for pursuing during this process so nothing gets lost along the way (and maybe even gain some new skills).

Create a goal pyramid

The best way to make sure that you stay motivated is to create a goal pyramid. Setting a goal is the first step in finding your inner motivation, but it’s easy to get overwhelmed and discouraged when something seems too big and difficult.

Instead, break your goals down into smaller pieces that are easier to achieve. Once you’ve accomplished each smaller goal, move on to the next one,  It may seem like there’s no point in setting goals if they’re too far away or unrealistic for you right now, but using this process will keep you focused on what’s important, the next step towards achieving your ultimate goal.
