After your years of studying, you are finally finishing your nursing program and getting ready to take the National Council Licensure Examination to certify as a registered nurse. Your professors gave you practice NCLEX questions, but now you want to get serious and sign up for training for NCLEX Brooklyn NY. This is a great way to prepare, but be sure you complete several other steps at the same time you are studying.

Apply for a License

Find out what the requirements are for a license in your state. You will likely need to send in your transcript showing your graduation from an accredited nursing program. If you have not yet graduated, make sure you understand all the other requirements and get your paperwork ready to submit after graduation appears on your transcript. Remember, you cannot register for the test without first applying for the license.

Register for the NCLEX

You will need to download the current candidate bulletin from the National Council of State Boards of Nursing to understand the entire process. This document outlines how to register for the test; what to do when you get your authorization to schedule an exam; and how to check in on the big day.

Prepare for the Exam

In addition to doing well in your studies and taking a preparation course, you need to prepare mentally. Be sure you are eating right, exercising, and getting enough sleep. You want your mind and body both ready for the test.

Take the Test and Wait for the Results

For some people, waiting may be the hard part. If you fall into this category, find ways to keep yourself distracted for the six weeks you will need to wait.

In a perfect world, your results will show you passed, and you are ready to start working as an RN. If not, don’t worry; you are not alone. You will need to schedule your second test at least 45 days after the first one, giving you even more time to study.
