CDA stops the construction of boundary walls at the temple’s site in Islamabad. The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has stopped the construction of a boundary wall on a temple plot in Islamabad due to legal reasons. The Prime Minister will direct the Ministry of Religious Affairs to send a summary of the grant allocation for the temple to the Islamic Ideological Council (CII).

At the same time, the Ministry of Religious Affairs clarified that the ministry only helped renovate places of worship belonging to religious minorities and did not build new buildings. The message was released by the Ministry of Religious Affairs on social media groups, including Twitter.

Yesterday, the CDA’s Enforcement and Building Control Departments reached the site of the temple in H-9/2 and instructed the workers to stop the construction of the temple’s boundary wall. After which the Hindu Panchayat Islamabad stopped work. The Hindu Panchayat Islamabad decided to approach the CDA on Monday (July 6th) to ask for permission to build.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) MNA Lal Chand Malhi said, “We abide by the law. But the construction of the boundary walls was necessary because, with the support of a few students of the madrassa, some people had set up tents on the temple’s site in 2018. After which it took several months to clear the place with the help of the administration.

On the other hand, CDA spokesperson Mazhar Hussain said that the building control laws of the Civic Authority clearly state that no activity can take place on the plot till the approval of the building plan (map).

However, a senior official in the CDA’s Enforcement Department said this was probably the first time the clause had been implemented. Because all owners are allowed to build boundary wall and ensure the occupation of their plots. While formal formalities are underway regarding the approval of the map.

On the other hand, Lal Chand Malhi said that the Panchayat had submitted the map to the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Minister Pir Noorul Haq Qadri had sent it to the Prime Minister with a summary of the grant of Rs100 million for the construction of the building.

Remember that the government system is that if the Prime Minister approves the summary, the building plan will be sent to the Ministry of Housing and Works. And Pak PWD will submit the building plan to the concerned civic body which is CDA. After which the Ministry of Finance will release the approved funds for its construction to Pak PWD.

However, Mohammad Imran, a spokesman for the Ministry of Religious Affairs, said a summary of the construction grant had been sent to the prime minister.

The spokesman said the prime minister would decide on funds for the construction of a place of worship for the minority population. He further said that the Prime Minister would take a decision keeping in view all the social and religious aspects. The spokesman also said that the government would seek guidance and advice from the Islamic Ideological Council on the summary sent to the Prime Minister.
