Most businesses need to figure out ways to reach customers, and dry cleaning companies are no exception. Even a company that has been in business for decades may struggle to entice customers as the demographics in the local area shift. It is a good idea for business owners to evaluate their market plans to keep up with the changes that occur over time.

1. Consider the Target Market

The marketing tactics used by companies in different areas will likely need to be much different to effectively attract customers. For example, a business that is located in a college town will need to use different methods than one located in an area that is mainly composed of senior citizens. Using good dry cleaning management software can help the company track patterns and narrow down the target market.

2. Evaluate the Competition

Search for all of the other dry cleaning businesses in the area and examine their tactics. Try to determine what sort of clients they are catering to and how successful they may be. Try to find out if any customer bases are being neglected, and how to attract them. Do not copy what the competition is doing because it is usually a better idea to find unique ways to differentiate the company from others.

3. Offer Promotions

Once the target market has been determined, devise special promotions to appeal to those particular clients. Offer discounted rates during slow periods to keep customers coming in. Special services such as repairing or altering clothing can be good ways to get people in the door. Some clients may be willing to pay extra for same-day services or unusual items.

It is not always necessary to spend a lot of money on marketing to gain new customers.  Figuring out new marketing tactics can result in some creative solutions by business owners that work great and do not break the bank.
